Enterprise Institute Provides Essential Real World Experience for SDSU Students

As a facilitator in entrepreneurship and innovative business start-ups, the Enterprise institute provides SDSU students with a foretaste into the world of private enterprise and small business growth in South Dakota. To provide this experience, the Enterprise Institute employs part-time Student Commercialization Analysts to compile competitive intelligence reports that assist entrepreneurs in making prominent and effective business decisions to facilitate growth in their new business venture. This allows students at SDSU to obtain real-life experience in working with new business ventures in South Dakota, ensuring a further aptitude of the business world upon graduation.

 

The current Student Commercialization Analysts are Patrick Kane and Michael Preszler. Below is a brief bio, their current specializations at SDSU, and a little bit of what they have to say about working at the Enterprise Institute.

 

This year two Student Commercialization Analysts have assisted clients with market research, competitive analysis, patent searches, and business plan writing:

Patrick Kane:

Patrick Kane, of Montrose, SD, is a senior Business Economics Major.  He will be pursuing a study abroad opportunity in Europe during the Spring of 2010.  Patrick noted the follow:

          “Working here has given me the opportunity to use some of the knowledge learned in the class room and apply it to real-life, tangible experience. A combination of in-depth research and a more comprehensive understanding of the business environment from inception will better prepare me for future career endeavors.”

Michael Preszler:

Michael Preszler, of Vermillion, SD, is a Mass Communications/Advertising & Spanish double-major. He is currently a Student's Association Senator and the Showcase Coordinator for the University Program Council.

         “Working at the Enterprise Institute has given me a better understanding of the process of small business start-ups. Utilizing a plethora of resources to conduct extensive research on a product or idea has assisted me in developing my analytical skills to find and provide useful and valued information to aid entrepreneurs.”
